The Frederick Freeze is excited to announce that Derek Comeau, the coach who led the Freeze to its greatest successes, has agreed to return as Head Coach and General Manager.
This is a great day for the Freeze. Derek took great pride in developing the Freeze in to a local junior success story from our inception in 2007 through the sucess of 2010, winning the CHA American Conference Championship and leading our C team to the National semi finals.
Derek played junior hockey in Laval in the QMJHL. In addition, he served as a scout for the USHL and provided numerous hockey opportunites to Freeze players. Numerous players that Derek coached play college hockey all accross the US. Under Derek, the Freeze had the first ever CHA player (Chris Bond Freeze captain 2007) drafted by the USHL. Derek is excited to return to the Freeze. "WE built this organiztion once and WE will do it again" stated Comeau. He has already begun to reach out to current and former Freeze players. Lisa Williams managing director of Skate Frederick stated it was "Great News" to have Derek back with the Freeze.
The Freeze family is whole again. We have not been this excited since 2010. It is truly a Great Day for Hockey in Frederick!!!
