The Frederick Freeze will focus its efforts and the skills of its terrific players on Empire excellence this season!
The FREEZE has had the most successful Junior team in the area since its inception in 2007 and is looking to continue and grow that success this season. FREEZE teams advanced to playoffs in 2009 and 2010 and even to quarterfinals at Junior Nationals in 2010. The FREEZE Empire team had the best showing of any junior team in this area in its inaugural season last year, missing the playoffs by only one point.
FREEZE veterans will lead the way this year, including: Brett Topolski, Pierce McCaull, Casey Donegan, James Dorrian, Chris Stauffer, Adam Taylor, Ian Cleary, Shawn Lane, Bobby Solari, Daniyal Hannan, and Eric Cross. Talented newcomers round out the roster and promise immediate contributions.
Empire Head Coach Jon Mahaffee brought the FREEZE to a strong finish last season after joining the team in early January. As a former college coach, Coach Mahaffee's experience and guidance from the start, will give this FREEZE season unlimited potential.
The FREEZE prefers not to water down teams and pad rosters to add teams, as many local junior teams prefer, even though they have not experienced the success of the FREEZE. We will make a stand with a strong Empire team, concentrating on developing local players, team skills and ultimately a place in the playoffs.
The Empire league places more players in college opportunities than any other Junior league except the EJHL. We are excited to bring those opportunities to our players. FREEZE former captain Chris Bond has played the past two seasons with the Topeka Roadrunners of the NAHL.
We're extremely proud of all past and present FREEZE players and our organization!
GO FREEZE!
